Easy Living Digest

OK, so a guilty pleasure, Easy Living Magazine.

I don’t know why I feel guilty reading it, I guess because I feel it’s like I’m not quite in its demographic yet. It feels like its aimed at people with their lives together, families and careers. I guess I have a career but I still feel like just a kid reading a grown ups magazine. I aspire to have the lovely looking house, the glamourous dinner parties, the fabulous wardrobes, I feel like I am not quite grown up enough yet. I feel like a pretender!

Oh well, I love reading it, I always find a million things in there that I like, often I think “I could make that‘, infact ‘I could make that‘ is what I say whenever I go to any of those cute crafty shops, craft markets/shows exhibitions etc. I’ve been known to jot or sketch my ideas down in my  Moleskine notebook, sometimes I’ve even been known to buy the bots needed to start a project but more often than not it stops there, trapped in my craft cupboard or Moleskine notebook.

One of my aims for this year (I hate to call it a New Year Resolution) is to actually craft more, to go through the whole process. I don’t know what it is that stops me at the materials/notebook stage, I know I have the skills (I’ve made plenty of successful things in the past), I have the time and the means (I used to use my old job as a convenient excuse, but with my new job that excuse no longer exists), then it was settling into a new house (that’s done), my fiance being home (he works away a lot, in fact he’s away for 2 months at the minute, so I can’t use that excuse at the minute), so what I am getting at is that there is nothing stopping me from making all the lovely things I want to make. But before that I should probably get on with the aim of the post!

Before I do that I have decided to start writing more on my little blog, previously it has just been mainly pictures of things I like. A word of warning though, I am a stream of consiousness girl, I will start writing one thing and it will transform into another, as this post will testify! I don’t do redrafts so what comes out is what stays, I apologise for that, but that’s just me, so I hope you enjoy the rest of this post….

It’s going to be: ‘I might make this‘, ‘books I like the look of”, ‘films I’ll try to see‘ (I’ve just got a LoveFilm subscription so that’s getting easier), ‘clothes I’d love to own‘, and maybe a few other bits chucked in…

Films

Black Swan – I’d like to see this for the costumes, they look so beautiful in all the photos, I hear it’s a really dark film so maybe I’ll need to take a buddy!

The King’s Speech – Winner of countless BAFTA Awards, can’t wait to see it, I hope it lives up to the hype….

Rabbit Hole – A film about a couple coping with the death of their young son. Sounds like an interesting, thought-provoking film. Definitely not one to see with the boy, he is far too sensitive a soul.

Books… I quite like the look of these books…

Stationary…. I LOVE stationary, normally I am a staunch Moleskine Diary gal, but I might be tempted to cheat with this ‘Keel’s Simple Diary‘. I suppose that because it’s undated I could keep it more as a journal, hmmm now there’s a thought…

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post, I know it was a bit epic, and yes it took me ages to do, so no, I’ve not got round to actually making anything yet, despite my musings earlier in this post.

Now I’m going to promise something, I hope I can keep it….

My next post will be about something that I have made/I have started making…..
